Nortech is one of two access control systems ClubRight integrates with. It connects to your door or turnstile through the Welcome Screen, so members whose payments are up to date are let in and others are refused. This article covers what you need and how the Nortech connection is set up.
✅ This is usually done by your installer. The Nortech setup is normally carried out by your approved access control engineer once the hardware is installed on site. The steps below are provided so the connection to ClubRight can be completed correctly.
💡 Tell us your install date. When you have an install date confirmed with your supplier, let us know through the Helpdesk (the orange chat button) at least 48 hours beforehand. Your installer can usually complete the work independently, but we like to be on hand in case they need to contact us during the install.
Before you start
💡 PC requirements: Nortech must run on a dedicated Windows PC used only for access control, with at least 8GB of RAM, hardwired to your internet router. It will not run on an Apple device, and a desktop is preferred over a laptop. Turn off automatic updates and sleep mode so they do not interrupt access control, and keep the Welcome Screen open and online at all times.
The Nortech connection is configured through the Welcome Screen, so you need that installed first. If you have not done this, follow the Welcome Screen setup guide.
Setting up the gate or door
Install the Welcome Screen. Go to Settings > Your Club > Apps & Widgets and download the Welcome Screen, which installs the latest version.
Open the Welcome Screen and log in with your owner account, then press F12 to open the settings menu. On newer versions, select Set-Up Nortech Access Control and enter the Gate command and COM port as below.
Enter the Gate command. This sets how long the barrier stays open: a door command is 040 (4 seconds), and a turnstile command is 010 (10 seconds).
Enter the COM port the Nortech controller is connected to, such as COM1, COM2, or COM3. Do not leave any spaces.
Set the reader ID. Click Set next to reader ID, then scan a barcode. This fills in the reader ID automatically.
Save and restart. Click Save, then restart the Welcome Screen.
Test it with a member or test member to confirm entry works.
💡 Remove any testing software once you are done, as it can block the Welcome Screen from working.
How members gain entry
With Nortech, members can gain entry using:
QR code: generated in the member app. It is a mix of letters and numbers, for example HEA123456.
Barcode: a standard barcode on a card or key tag.
PIN number: a 6-digit number, the same as the member's membership number.
