Once a message has been delivered, it can't be unsent, recalled or undone, and there's no unsend button. But if you act quickly, you may still be able to stop it. A message you've just sent can be stopped for a short time before it goes out. A scheduled message can be stopped any time before its send time, and a draft can be deleted. If it has already been delivered, the best fix is a quick follow-up correction to the same members.
If you've only just clicked send
When you send a message immediately, it's queued and goes out shortly afterwards. Until then, it works like a scheduled message and can be stopped, but you need to be quick.
After you send, you're taken back to Communication > Group Messages and see Your message has been queued for sending. The message shows with the status Scheduled until it sends.
Find the message in the list
Under Actions, click the red square (Stop this message)
Click Yes, stop it to confirm
⚠️ Note: stopping a message can't be undone. A stopped message isn't saved as a draft, so if you still want to send it, you'll need to write it again from scratch as a new message.
If the status shows Sent and the red square under Actions has changed to an eye icon, the message has already gone out. See "If it has already been sent" below.
If it's still a draft
You can delete a draft before it's sent:
Go to Communication > Group Messages
Click the Drafts tab
Click the bin icon next to the draft
Click Delete to confirm
If it's scheduled to send later
You can stop a scheduled message any time before its send time. You can't edit a scheduled message, so to change one, stop it and send a new one.
Go to Communication > Group Messages
Click the Scheduled tab
Find the message and, under Actions, click the red square (Stop this message)
Click Yes, stop it to confirm
⚠️ Note: stopping a message can't be undone. A stopped message isn't saved as a draft, so if you still want to send it, you'll need to write it again from scratch as a new message.
For more, see Scheduling messages to send later.
If it has already been sent
A message that has been delivered can't be pulled back. Here's what you can do instead:
Check who it went to. You can do this in either of two places:
Go to Communication > Group Messages, click the Sent tab, then under Actions click the eye icon (View report) next to the message
Go to Reporting > Communications > Bulk Emails, which shows each email with how many members received, opened and clicked it
Send a follow-up correction. Create a new group message using the same filters as the original so it reaches the same members. Keep it short: say what was wrong and give the correct information. See Sending a group or bulk message.
Stopping mistakes before they happen
Schedule instead of sending immediately. A scheduled message can be stopped any time before it goes out, so scheduling it a little ahead gives you time to spot a mistake.
Turn on message review. With Review messages before sending turned on, bulk and automated messages wait for your approval before they go out, and you can discard any that aren't right. See Configuring your messaging settings.
