IMPORTANT Hardware Requirements
The QR Code reader will ONLY work with a Windows 10 or higher PC
The QR Reader does NOT work with any of the following devices
Any Apple Device
Any Tablet DeviceWhilst a Windows Laptop can work it is NOT recommenced as they do not provide a consistent connection and can overheat as they are not designed to be left permanently on charge
Recommended always use a Windows 10 or more Desktop PC, ideally directly hardwired connection to the router as WiFi can sometimes drop of course
Before we get started please find the link below and download both versions of Microsoft Visual C++ one at a time, this will ensure the welcome screen loads right away once installed
QR Code or Barcode?
Before you start the set up you will need to decide which version you wish to use
Go to Settings > Club Info > Club Access
In the drop down you can select
Normal Bar Code - Used where member has a card or tag with a Bar Code
QR Code (rotating) - Set up on Member App and used with Nortech
OR Code (Fixed) - Set up on Member App and used with Paxton
Steps to setting up
Go to Settings then Click into Club Info, under the apps tab you can download the welcome screen. then follow the on screen instructions to download the latest version of the Welcome Screen.
Once download it may show numbers (This is not a problem and will not affect any barcodes. You can turn this off by going to the settings, then to club info, now club access and untick welcome screen keypad.)
2. Then launch the welcome screen and press F12 on your keyboard. This will open the options menu.
3. Then click "set" and scan a barcode to detect the scanner. You can then save and close the welcome screen.
4. Open it back up, and when you do, you won't need to have your welcome screen in the foreground to use it.
5. Most clubs like to have the Welcome Screen open and customer facing for members to see when they walk in which will also greet them and contains important information as well.
Each day you will need to ensure the welcome screen is open therefore it will check in customers.
Tip
You also have the options to turn on or disable the welcome screen sound via the settings > club info > club access. Within here you can turn it on or off.
IMPORTANT Note
The QR Code reader supplied by ClubRight is NOT designed for use with Access Control that might operate a door or turnstile.
This reader is used for connection to a Windows PC at a reception desk style operation.
Troubleshooting
Often a Factory Reset may resolve issues with your desktop scanner, the manual contains a factory reset QR code to put the unit back to factory defaults. Please try this first, and then reinstall the scanner following the steps above. If you cannot locate your scanner manual, then here is the factory reset code:
If this does not work, follow the steps below:
Please note if you have an older machine please use the link below to download both versions of VC++ 2015, to rule out any dependency issues on old machines.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=48145Make sure you are connected to the internet to operate
If the reader does not seem to operate check that it is plugged in and the blue light is on at the top of the reader. When you then offer a bar code up to it the white light will come on.
Make sure the Welcome Screen application is turned on each day to ensure it is working as you do need to be logged into the main ClubRight software for this to work.
You might need a powered USB hub as scanner we're now providing requires a powered USB, most recent Windows PC's will be fine.
Older computers do not provide enough power - which is why the scanners don't work (even though they appear to turn on, they aren't on enough to be able to run effectively)
Long extension cables will probably lower the voltage enough so the scanner isn't getting enough power so this should also be considered.
Check what power options are available to the scanner before writing the scanner off as dead. A powered USB hub will most likely solve the problem if you find this to the case with your PC
If you click f12 and it does not bring up the command box this would often be due to a keyboard shortcut. In this case you will go to the windows icon and open the on screen keyboard then click f12 in here.
