Creating your first membership plan

A step-by-step guide to setting up a membership plan in ClubRight using the new plan wizard.

Membership plans define what you offer, how much you charge, and who can join. In the new ClubRight, plans are created using an eight-step wizard that guides you through every setting in a logical order, with a live preview on the right-hand side showing how the plan is shaping up as you go. Once created, a plan can be made available in your Member Area for members to purchase themselves, or sold in club by staff.

How to get to Membership Plans

  1. Click the burger menu in the top left-hand corner.

  2. Scroll down to Tools and click Settings.

  3. In the left-hand menu under Your Offerings, click Membership Plans.

This page shows all your existing membership plans. You can view them as cards or as a list, filter by Member Area, In-Club Only, Needs Attention, or by category, and drag to reorder plans using the handle that appears when you hover over a card. Plans are grouped into Active, Archived, and Drafts tabs at the top.

To set default renewal settings that apply across all plans, click Renewal Defaults in the top right corner of the Membership Plans page.

Starting a new plan

Click New Plan in the top right-hand corner. You will see two options in the dropdown:

  • Guided Setup: an eight-step wizard that walks you through every setting in order. Recommended for most users, especially if you are creating a plan for the first time.

  • Advanced Setup: takes you directly to the full plan editor with all settings visible at once. Best for experienced users who want more control or need to configure settings not covered by the wizard.

This article covers the Guided Setup wizard. The steps are: Template, Details, Pricing, Duration, Access, Payment, Included, and Review.

📋 Note: You can click Save & Exit at any point during the wizard to save the plan as a draft and return to it later.

Step 1: Template

Choose the type of membership plan you want to create. This sets sensible defaults that you can customise in the steps that follow.

  • Day Pass: single visit or day access.

  • Monthly Rolling: pay monthly, cancel anytime.

  • Monthly Contract: fixed term with monthly payments.

  • Annual Membership: pay yearly upfront.

  • Weekly: pay weekly, four-week rolling.

  • Custom: advanced options, build from scratch.

Select the template that best matches the plan you want to create, then click Next.

Step 2: Details

Give your plan its basic information.

  • Plan Name: this is what members will see when signing up. Keep it clear and descriptive.

  • Description: a brief summary of what the membership includes. This appears in the Member Area when members browse plans.

  • Plan Image: upload an image to represent the plan in the Member Area.

  • Feature this plan: tick this to display the plan prominently in the Member Area with a Featured badge.

A Preview panel on the right updates as you fill in the details, showing a payment summary, contract information, payment methods, and an example payment schedule. Check this as you go to confirm the plan is shaping up as expected.

Click Next when done.

Step 3: Pricing

Set the cost of the plan.

  • Monthly Payment: the amount charged each month (or each period, depending on the template).

  • Add an introductory offer: optional. Charge a discounted rate for the first few payments to attract new members. After the introductory period, the price reverts to the regular amount automatically.

  • Add a joining fee: optional. A one-off fee charged when a member signs up.

  • VAT Rate: select the applicable rate if your club is VAT registered. Defaults to No VAT (0%).

Click Next when done.

Step 4: Duration

Set how long the membership lasts and what happens at the end.

  • Contract Length: set the number of months (or weeks) for the initial contract period.

  • When the contract ends: choose either Ends automatically (membership stops at the end of the contract) or Rolling renewal (continues until the member cancels).

  • Payment Collection Day: choose when recurring payments are collected each period. Defaults to Immediate (day of signup).

Click Next when done.

Step 5: Access

Set who can use this plan and when they can visit.

  • How should members be able to get this plan? Choose In-Club Only (sold by staff) or In-Club + Online (members can purchase it themselves through the Member Area).

  • How many visits are included? Choose Unlimited (no visit cap) or Limited (set a visit cap).

  • When can members visit? Choose Any time (no time restriction) or Set access hours (choose which days and times members can visit, with the option to block specific time windows).

  • Who can purchase this plan? Choose All Ages (no age restriction) or Age Restricted (set a minimum and maximum age).

Click Next when done.

Step 6: Payment

Select which payment methods members can use for this plan. At least one must be selected.

  • Direct Debit: automatic bank payments.

  • Card: credit or debit card.

  • Cash: pay in person.

  • Standing Order: bank transfer, manual setup.

📋 Note: At least one payment method must be selected. Members will see the available options when signing up.

Click Next when done.

Step 7: Included

Choose what members get free with this plan.

  • Include activities with this plan? Choose None or Include Activities and select which activities are included at no extra cost.

  • Include appointments with this plan? Choose None or Include Appointments and select which appointment types are included.

  • Include free add-ons with this plan? If you have free add-ons set up, they will appear here for you to include.

Click Next when done.

Step 8: Review

Check all your plan details before creating it. The review screen shows a full summary across three sections:

  • Plan & Pricing: name, description, and monthly payment amount.

  • Duration & Payments: contract length, when the contract ends, payment collection day, and payment methods.

  • Inclusions & Access: activities, age restriction, visit limit, access hours, and template type.

If everything looks correct, click Create Plan. The plan will be created and you can then go into it to make any further adjustments via the edit screen.

📋 Note: The review screen will show a Ready to create! confirmation when all required fields are complete. You can fine-tune settings further via the edit screen after the plan has been created.

After creating the plan

Once created, the plan will appear on your Membership Plans page. From there you can edit it, archive it, or manage it further. Each plan card shows key information at a glance, including the price, contract length, number of members on the plan, and whether it is visible in the Member Area or in-club only.

💡 Helpful tip: Not sure which setup option to choose? Start with Guided Setup. It walks you through every setting in a logical order and is the quickest way to get a plan created correctly. You can always use Advanced Setup once you are familiar with how plans work.
