Giving a member or prospect a free session is a good way to let someone try a class before they commit to a membership, or to offer a complimentary session as a goodwill gesture. You do this by booking them into the class and selling them a free pass, priced at zero, so no payment is taken.
Before you start: set up a free product
A free pass only appears as an option when booking if you have set up a product for it first. This is a product priced at £0.00, such as a complimentary class pass, that grants access to the class you want to give away. Without it, there is nothing free to select at the sell step.
Set this up before you start, and make sure it grants access to the right activity, or the pass will not let the member book that class. For how to create one, see the products article.
Give the free session
Open the diary from the calendar icon in the left menu and click the class you want to give them.
In Activity Details, click + Book a Member.
Search for the member or prospect and select them.
Choose Just this activity for a one-off free session.
Under What to sell, choose the free pass you set up, for example a complimentary class pass priced at £0.00.
Under How they're paying, choose Complimentary / discount.
Click the confirm button, which will read Take £0.00 & book 1 class.
The member is booked into the class at no charge and receives a booking confirmation email.
💡 Tip: A free session works well for prospects. Book a prospect into a class for free, then follow up after they attend to talk about membership.
