To add a new member, go to Contacts > Members and click New Contact in the top right. Enter their first name, last name and email address, then click Add contact. They're saved as a prospect until they have a membership plan, so click Start a membership to make them a member. Whether you call it adding a new member, creating a member, signing someone up or adding a contact, this is where it starts.
How to add a new contact
Click Contacts in the left-hand menu and select Members.
Click New Contact in the top right. On a smaller screen this button shows as + Add new member. The Add Member tile on your dashboard opens the same box.
In the Add a new contact box, enter their First name and Last name. Both are required.
Enter their Email address. It's optional, but recommended, as it's used for sign-up emails and payment links.
If you'd like a photo on their profile, click Add a photo to upload one, or Use camera to take one now.
Click Add contact.
The box then shows the new contact with three options:
Open profile: go to their member profile.
Start a membership: add a membership plan straight away.
Book a class: book them into a class.
Click Add another member to add someone else, or Done to close the box.
Making them a member
The box says: "Without a membership plan, contacts are saved as prospects." The person only becomes a member once a membership plan is added.
Click Start a membership, either in the box or on their profile, then follow Manually adding a membership in club.
Adding a mobile number, date of birth and other details
The Add a new contact box only takes their name, email address and photo. To add a mobile number, date of birth, address or emergency contact, open their profile and click Edit profile. If you're starting a membership, you can also fill these in at the Member info step.
Does the new member get an email?
ClubRight doesn't send them anything when you add them. If your club has a Smart Workflow that starts When someone joins as a prospect, it runs for them straight away. For example, it might send a welcome message or move them into your sales funnel.
Their email address is also their login for your members area and the ClubRight member app. They set up the login themselves: they enter their email, receive a one-time passcode, and use it to log in and set a password. The welcome email sent when you start their membership with Send welcome email straight away turned on also includes a link to verify their account. For help with logging in, see Member login and password troubleshooting.
What if the email address is already in use?
ClubRight will still let you add the contact. Both profiles are kept, and each shows the other under Linked profiles. To avoid creating a duplicate, search Contacts for the person's name or email address before you add them.
Adding a staff member instead
To add a member of staff, select Staff in Contacts first. The button then reads Add staff member, and the box asks you to choose their Role. You can't give someone a higher role than your own.
