Bolt-ons are optional add-ons that members can have alongside their membership, such as an extra class each week or a credit pack. When you set up a brand new membership, you can include bolt-ons during the process. For a member who is already on a plan, there is no button to add a bolt-on to their existing membership directly. Instead, you use a workaround: add a new membership on the same plan with the bolt-on included, then cancel the original membership.
Important: This is a workaround, not a built-in feature. You are recreating the membership with the bolt-on attached and cancelling the old one. Take care to match the original start date and note the next payment date before you begin, so the member's billing stays correct.
Before you start
Open the member's profile and check their current membership. Note the plan they are on, the start date, and their next payment date. You will need these so the new membership matches the old one.
Note: The bolt-on must already exist as an add-on on the plan before it can be selected. If it does not appear in the steps below, set it up first. See Creating and setting up products.
Add a new membership with the bolt-on
On the member's profile, click + Add another membership below the existing membership tile.
At Choose plan, select the same plan the member is currently on.
At Start date, set the start date to match the member's original membership start date.
At the Add-ons step, toggle on the bolt-on you want to add, then click Next.
Work through the remaining steps (member info, welcome and ParQ, payment) and click Start membership to confirm.
For a full walk-through of the membership wizard, see Manually adding a membership in club.
Cancel the original membership
Once the new membership with the bolt-on is in place, cancel the original membership that does not have the bolt-on attached. The member is now on the new membership with the bolt-on included.
For how to cancel, see Cancelling a membership: process and what to expect.
Take payment
The new membership will show as overdue until you take payment or set up a payment method. Open the Manage Membership panel and use Take payment, Collect by DD, or set up automated payments to collect what is due. This is easy to miss, so always complete it after recreating the membership.
