Two-way messaging in the Member App

What in-app two-way messaging is in the ClubRight Member App, and how to turn it off if you prefer other channels.

In-App Two-Way Messaging lets your members contact you directly from within the ClubRight Member App. It gives members a fast, familiar way to ask questions, raise issues, or get in touch without leaving the app, and it gives your team a single place to handle incoming queries from the people who use ClubRight most actively.

How members use in-app messaging

When in-app messaging is enabled, members tap the Messages icon in the Member App, type their message, and send it to your club. From their point of view it works much like messaging any other business or contact, so there is no learning curve.

Common reasons members get in touch this way include:

  • Asking a quick question about a class, booking, or membership

  • Letting you know they cannot attend an upcoming session

  • Following up on a payment or account query

  • Sharing feedback after a visit

Where you receive their messages

Messages your members send through the app arrive in your Conversations section in ClubRight, where you can read, reply to, and manage them alongside other incoming communications. Anyone on your team with the right access can respond, so you do not need a single person tied to the app to keep up.

Enabled by default

In-App Two-Way Messaging is switched on by default for every club, so there is nothing to set up to start receiving messages. The rest of this article is for clubs that would prefer to handle member communication through other channels and want to turn the feature off.

Turning in-app messaging off

Clubs sometimes choose to disable in-app messaging when:

  • They prefer to handle member communication through email, phone, or social media

  • Nobody on the team monitors in-app messages regularly, and they would rather not leave members waiting

  • They want to consolidate all incoming queries into a single channel

To switch it off:

  1. From the burger menu, click Settings

  2. Under Communications, select Messaging

  3. At the top of the Messaging Settings page, find Can members message you through the app?

  4. Toggle the switch off

Your change is saved automatically. You will see an All changes saved confirmation at the top right of the page.

What happens when in-app messaging is disabled

The Messages section remains visible in the Member App, so members can still see any messages you have sent them. What changes is that members can no longer send new messages or replies to your club from inside the app. Members who want to get in touch would need to use one of your other contact channels, such as your website, email, or phone.

Turning in-app messaging back on

If you change your mind, return to Settings > Communications > Messaging and toggle Can members message you through the app? back on. The change saves automatically, and members can immediately start sending messages to your club again.
