The ClubRight Member App is where your members interact with your club online: booking classes, managing their membership and payment details, making payments when required, and staying up to date with club news. This article explains how members download and sign in to the app, what they can do once they are in, and how you can encourage members to download it.
How members download the app
The ClubRight Member App is available on both iOS and Android. Members can install it in two ways:
App Store (iPhone, iPad): search "ClubRight" in the App Store and tap Get to install.
Google Play (Android): search "ClubRight" in the Google Play Store and tap Install.
Once installed, members open the app and sign in with the email address and password they registered with at your club.
⚠️ Important: Members must be registered with your club before they can sign in to the app. New members register through your member area when they join online, or are added by your team in ClubRight.
Is there a QR code members can scan to download the app?
ClubRight doesn't provide a ready-made QR code for downloading the app, but you can make your own with any free QR code generator. Create it from the app store links:
App Store (iPhone): https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/clubright/id1455105642
Google Play (Android): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thecodeguy.clubright
The simplest option is to make two QR codes, one for each store, and label them iPhone and Android. For example, you could put them on a poster at reception so members can scan the right one and get the app.
If your club has its own branded app, members download that app instead. Search your app's name in the App Store and Google Play, and use those links to make your QR codes.
⚠️ Note: The QR codes in Settings > Apps & Widgets (Membership Selection and plan QR codes) take people to your joining pages to sign up, not to the app.
What members can do in the app
Book and cancel classes from your schedule.
Manage their membership, including updating their details, managing their payment method, and making payments when required. Members can't change or upgrade their plan in the app; your staff do this using Change plan (see Changing or upgrading a member's plan).
Show their QR code, barcode or digital membership card to check in.
Buy products, credits, and add-ons from your online shop.
Stay informed through your branded homepage, notifications, and club info pages.
Where does a member find their QR code to scan in?
Members find their QR code on the home page of the ClubRight Member App, or of your member area on a phone. It's on the dark Tap to scan in card that shows their membership number. Tapping the card opens their code so they can show it at the scanner when they check in. Members sometimes call this their check-in code, scan-in code or barcode.
To find the QR code:
Open the ClubRight Member App, or log in to your member area on a phone.
On the home page, tap the Tap to scan in card.
Hold the code up to the scanner on your welcome screen to scan in.
Why can't a member see the Tap to scan in card?
They're using a laptop, desktop or larger tablet. The card is hidden on bigger screens, so members should use the app or the member area on their phone.
Your club's check-in method doesn't use a code. The card only shows when How do members check in? is set to QR Code or Barcode. If it's set to Digital Card, members see a digital membership card instead. If it's set to None, there's no card at all.
They don't have a membership number. The member needs a membership number on their profile for the card to show.
To check or change your club's check-in method (Settings > Club Access):
Click the burger menu in the top left-hand corner, then click Settings.
Under How your club runs, click Club Access.
Under How do members check in?, choose QR Code (Rotating or Fixed) or Barcode.
Click Save Changes.
Promoting the app to your members
App downloads tend to lift sharply when you actively promote the app rather than waiting for members to find it themselves. Here are some ways to drive adoption:
Add an app download link to your transactional emails. Include the link in your membership confirmation email so new members install the app as part of their joining flow, and in your booking confirmation email so existing members are reminded each time they book.
Mention the app in your welcome series. If you use Smart Workflows, add an email in your new-member sequence that explains what members can do in the app and links to the download.
Display a QR code in-club. A QR code linking to the app store on the reception desk, in changing rooms, or by the gym floor makes downloading effortless for members who are already on-site. See Is there a QR code members can scan to download the app? for how to make one.
Train your team to mention it. A short prompt at sign-up ("download our app to book classes and manage your membership") sets the expectation early.
Link to it from your website and social media. Make it easy for members and prospects to find the app from anywhere they encounter your club online.
What members need to use the app
An internet connection: the app needs Wi-Fi or mobile data to load content and sync with ClubRight.
A compatible device: an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet running a supported version (see below). Older devices may not be supported as Apple and Google update their operating systems. If a member runs into issues, the first step is usually to delete and reinstall the app.
Does the member app work on tablets?
Yes. The ClubRight Member App works on iPads and Android tablets, such as Samsung tablets, as well as on iPhones and Android phones. Members download it the same way as on a phone: from the App Store on an iPad, or from Google Play on an Android tablet.
To be compatible, the device needs to be running:
iPhone or iPad: iOS or iPadOS 12.2 or later
Android phone or tablet, including Samsung: Android 8.0 or later
If a member logs in to your member area on a larger tablet rather than using the app, the Tap to scan in card doesn't show. Members who check in with a QR code or barcode should scan in using the app or the member area on their phone.
Can I use a tablet at my front desk?
Yes. If you'd like new members to sign up on a tablet at reception, open your club's Online Login & Registration page (app.clubright.co.uk/register) in the tablet's web browser rather than using the app. Prospects can then join on the spot without needing a staff member. See Connecting your website to ClubRight for where to find the link.
A tablet at reception can also be used for member check-in. See Using Browser Check-In.
Helpful tip
💡 Personalise the app before you promote it. Members are far more likely to download and stick with an app that looks like an extension of your club. Set up your branding, custom tiles, and welcome message first, so the first impression is a strong one.
